on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 66 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 66 | I thought I was getting a vacuum in my gas tank because it makes a pssshhht sound when I open it, but it's actually pressure. The truck keeps sputtering. It happened with the gas cap removed also. Is it just the fuel pump? Could that actually cause pressure build up in the gas tank? I don't know what else it could be??? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | don't see how you could get pressure, unless the tank is heating up substantially or your pump was pumping the wrong direction I think you're misinterpreting the sound .... for starters, the cap should be vented to prevent a vacuum happening, so ya need to get a new cap, but the poor running being the problem, maybe you've picked up some junk from the tank and plugged the carb a bit? got an inline filter? tried cranking with the fuel line off the carb [into a can] to see if the pump has a good volume flow? sure it's a fuel problem, not ignition? They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | |
