And in GMC's language there is no 2nd series, so be sure you know what you have when you call him. 2nd Series could be taken to mean '47 or '55.

Jim Carter's on-line catalog has GMC ID plates through 1955, which probably means through the Z series (the end of the New Design series of GMC trucks).

1955 2nd series Chevrolet = Task Force (1955-2nd through 1959)
late 1955 GMC (Y series) = Blue Chip (late 1955 through 1959, I think)

I know Jim Carter has the Z series GMC plates because I bought one from him recently at a swap meet. I have no idea about the Y series plates.
