For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 116 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 116 | My water pump shaft on my '41 GMC 228 started wiggling and squeaking yesterday. Does anyone know of a good rebuilder for theses items? Are they different than the Chevy 235? I live in Tennessee. Thanks. The local AutoZone has parts that I thought could only be had online or from specialty shops. Plus local rebuild shops generally do it cheaper and no shipping. For example my water pump went out. Ebay NOS $90 starying bid. Autozone 35 bucks no shipping. Where I am going here is try local resources first. Local junkyards, FLAPS, even the Ace Hardware turned up brass automotive connectors for the oil filter, and they have SS nuts and bolts fines and SAE thread for a reasonable price. To paraphrase think globally buy locally. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 | you can get a new pump from carters. i just put one on my 228 thats in the 40. or you can go to advanced auto with this #wp9539(5/8th belt) however carter is the cheaper of the two and the pumps are identical. | | |
