My 52 has an oil bath air filter silver in color (plated) most i've seen are black.Did the factory put on what ever they had in stock at the time or did it depend on the plant?(oakland)

To the best of my knowledge, they had specific filters. I'm not aware of any silver ones, they were all black. It should have either a small flat pancake style or the bigger oil bath.

I had an oil bath a while back that was galvanized. Came off a 50's GMC. The paint came off of it real easy.
