hey all i have a 3L80HD/THM475 from an 87 c-10 pickup i just had,

i plan on using it in another vehicle and its already removed and im in the process of cleaning it up and getitng it ready and all that

i found a few TSB's on this tranny:
903577A OCT 90 Direct Clutch Premature Wear With 3L80 and 3L80-HD

903567A OCT 90 Slip or No Drive With 3L80 and 3L80-HD A/T

904027A FEB 91 Service Replacement Transmission Assembly (Srta) 3L80/3L80-HD

93C07A MAR 93 Recall - Automatic Transmission Vent 4L60, 4L60E & 3L80

can anyone who knows about this particular tranny tell me about it and what to watch for on it or modify/replace in it so it will be alright?

and also what the TSB's above mean ? premature direct clutch wear ? slip or no drive problem ?

thanks for anything, any links, anything,

i have tag info from it if may help any ?

I think the 87 used a 700-4r. I,ve put 2 of them in older trucks & they work excellant. You must get the trottle cable setup & adjustment right or it won,t work right & won,t last long. Also it,s best to hook up a converter lockup system. There is lot,s of info on the net about this because it is a popular swap. The 4L60 & 4L80 are more difficult because they are computer controlled.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

I thought the TH475 was only used in heavier applications, like a big 1-ton, not a 1/2-ton pickup.

I have a TH475 in my P30 with a 12,000 lb GVW. My K3500 with a 454 and 8,000+ GVW only has a TH400.

It's true. I really don't do anything but browse the Internet looking for trouble...
