Back in the day of 1935, plus or minus 10 years or so, what was the carburetor of choice? Carter or Rochester or maybe something different. Trying to stay as close to original on the old 1-1/2 Ton, but since it had no carb when I got it don't really know what to look for and what model carb. Thoughts please. Thanks, Tom

The very first Rochester carb was produced in 1949, a two-barrel used by Oldsmobile.

The first Rochester single-barrel carb was produced in 1950.

Jon.

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air
The most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify.

Could anyone help on what Model Number of a Carter W-1 I would look for? When I look at Ebay I see several W-1's but they all look somewhat different. Catalog, Serial, Casting, etc. I suppose might help, Tom

Lots of great information Jon. Unfortunately the tag is missing on my Carter, and I don't see a match with other numbers. This is probably a much later model anyway. I will contact this carb shop and see if they can help ID. Thanks much, Tom
