I guess i posted my question in the wrong section so I'll try here. How long are the shortbed running boards on the AD trucks? I have some longbed boards that I want to cut down to size.

Thanks, Slim

I just measured the ones on my '48. At the inside right angle (where the runningboard goes vertical) I got just a hair over 62.5".

Slim, You might really help someone if you sold/traded the long ones for short ones. The long ones are hard to find and could make someone very happy.Good luck.

Hey slimneverdies - It isn't just as easy as cutting them up and bolting them onto the truck. You'll want to take into consideration where the mounts are located. Which means you might have to relocate the mounts by cutting them off the bottom of the boards and then welding them into the correct location. If you got good welding, grinding, and fabrication skills then go for it, work with what you got. The end result is you want everything to look like it was never messed with. If your running boards are from a 1 ton pickup or panel truck - you can get some good money for them because they are real hard to find. Then you can use the money you get to buy the correct size running boards that you need for your truck.

Another point- running boards are tapered. If you cut some out of the middle the two pieces won't mate.

You are right cletis! The running boards would need several small sections cut out over the length of the boards to maintain the taper. Lots of work!

If you cut up a good set of longbed running boards, you should be tarred and feathered!!!! You'd be much better off to sell them and buy new repro short bed boards.

I have to agree with "GrandpaGlenn".

You Should be able to find someone either to trade or sell yours to and get another set the right length for your project.

Collecting is fun, as long as momma enjoys riding in them.

OK! So I dont get "tarred and feathered" I guess I'll have to post these running boards up for sale or trade. To the for sale post I go.

Thanks
