Got a gear oil leak coming from the rear of my 1957 chevy 3200 (3speed manual on the tree). its coming from where the drive train meets the rear of the tranny. Gear oil shooting up onto the undercarriage and bottom of bed. Is there a seal in the back of the tranny that I can replace? Can I do it without removing the tranny? Where do I get a seal?? To replace the trans. rear seal you pull the drive shaft out & remove the seal. If the seal has a flange on it you put a chisel in back of it & tap it out. If not take a small chisel & hammer & dig into it. If you have a large socket about the size of the seal you can use it to hammer in the new seal. If not tap it carefully on the edge work ing around till it is flush with the houseing. A new seal is available from any parts store. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | |
