I was dinking around on Ebay a little while ago, and there is a choke stove up for auction. I am curious what is it, how was it attached, what did ti do, and what trucks did it fit? I think this is a general question, but if the mods feel it needs be go to the driveline forum feel free to move it.

Jimmie,

The choke stove went around the exhaust manifold and a hollow tube ran from the hole in the top of the stove to an automatic choke mechanism on the carburetor.

This type of choke was used on Chevrolet automobiles, most likely engines used on Powerglides from 1950 (maybe on all 235 automobile engines from 1954?).

This type of choke was also used on 1954/55 Hydra-Matic equipped Chevrolet trucks (most likely it was used on H-M equipped 1953-55 GMC trucks, too).

Tim

Tim,
Thanks for the information. Sorry I was rather slow getting back here to see what was said. I love delving into the old technology used on these trucks. Jimmie.
