Well, welcome aboard, timbuk. Now..... where are the pictures? Gotta' have pictures.... we love pictures...lol... I have heard of custom crew cabs being done, but I have never ever seen one. So please post pics of that one at the very least whenever you get a chance. Feel free to tell us all about your collection. We thrive on details too wink

I use photobucket, we just post the links to the images here instead of hotlinking the images themselves. That is so neat that you have one of those trucks. I was wondering how they were built, but you answered that. Makes sense to shorten the box.

Another BC'er, cool. I want your crew cab! cool There was a white 2 door crew cab c/w a 8' box here on the island a long time ago (80's) It's front bench seat was apx 1 foot narrower than a normal cab bench on the passenger side. the back of the seat folded but was split 40/60. I remember being told it was the origonal seat and was like that so you could get in the back seat. Is yours like that?

Lets see some pics, no pics, no proof! J/K grin

CPP has a very good technical section on their site.
http://www.classicperform.com/
There are plenty of "kits" available to do almost anything. Personally, I like the challenge of tracking down something ORIGINAL! That's not to say that has to be from the factory to be right, but if I can find the original stuff, then at least I know that I have the full resources of the GM factory behind me. A good deal of stuff that is available from these new suppliers is kind of a one-size-fits-all type of deal.
Here's a guy who can get you the original power steering for your truck! http://www.powersteeringparts.com/
He's very knowledgeable but has some health issues at the moment. (hurry up if you want it!)
As for brakes, I seem to be in the small minority here, but an original vacuum power brake booster (available at LMC) added to your stock brakes (redone correctly of course) will send you through the windshield just as well as discs will! And any good truck driver knows how to prevent fade as well. Just don't keep applying and reapplying the brake pedal! The shoes will expand. Steady pressure gets you down that long grade. JMHO. Enjoy all the magazines for the pretty pictures, not for all the ads trying to get you to buy the latest and greatest!

Timbuk, your posts are very difficult to read. Please reach back and use some of those Periods, Commas and Capital letters for the start of your sentences. It's not a race, but you will in fact get more assistance over time, because people may have a clue as to what you're talking about. Play nice! Thanks.

I looked long and hard at those crew cab pics, timbuk. I'm just a quiet fella' though grin . Those are most definitely interesting trucks. Very cool and worth the expense of a restore.

I saw a crew cab 64-66 in a mag a number of years ago and have had an eye for them since. I actually prefer the 60-63 with the curved windshield, but am currently out of room as it is. Couldn't bring home anything else even if I found a goldmine. Nonetheless, i still like them and will always watch out for them.
