Just wondering if any of you guys might have the replacement bearing numbers for switching to roller bearings? Hopefully someone in here kept the receipt after changing over to roller bearings from the original ball bearing type. Hope someone can pass on the info.

Thanks, Steve

Sure, The outer is 70's camarao just go to flaps. The inner is a very special one made in Japan by a compamy called MBS. No one in the US or anyhwhere else makes it. See my signiture and go to the bearings section of my webshots.

The ball bearings on your truck are designated B01 (outer) and B52 (inner). The outer bearing can be replaced by a tapered roller bearing 09074 cone and 09207 cup (Timken #'s). I think 70's Camaros use these. That is why when you go with 5 lug disc rotors you only need to sleeve your spindle for the inner bearing. The Camaro, Monte Carlo, etc outer bearings fit.

No one I have found except for a company in Japan named MBS makes a replacement tapered roller for the inner bearing. Its MBS909052R The only other choices on the inner are to sleeve the spindle or bush the hub.

Its just easier to buy the bearing sets from one of the suppliers. I got mine from CPP when they had some on sale on Ebay. Incidentally, I was surprised to find no markings or ID on these bearings whatsoever.

'53-'57 Corvette front wheel bearings are same as our 1/2 tons. Here is a message from one of their forums. I searched for all the companies mentioned and either couldn't find them or they were as expensive as anyone else.

I bought a used hub recently and it came with tapered bearing cones installed. Unfortunately I did not get the bearings with the hub.

The hub was for a 54 Chevy; 51 to 59, or something like that.

Both cones were made by Bower, a USA manufacturer; at least when these bearings were made.

Inner cone # LM48519 Bower
Outer cone # LM11918 Bower

I figured since Easter is around the corner this would be another Easter egg hunt. I will check with NAPA this morning and see what they come up with for the bearings. Thanks a bunch for the info. Have a great day!

For the record, The front wheel bearings on my '56 are 909052R (inner) and 909001R (outer). Other markings are MBS and JAPAN.

Thanks Lonnie...I found the outers at Kragens for $13.00 but they nor NAPA can cross the inner. Gonna try Motion Industries tomorrow. Thanks for the info...really appreciate the effort!!
