I recently picked up a rebuilt 207--but rebuilt 20 years ago and left in a barn. I see the lifters are frozen up --can i take them out--just straight up by pulling normally or is there a detent or some such that holds them in? Tomarrow I take off the pan and i am hoping it is all good in there.

I am going by a manual that I have but I believe that there are springs inside the side cover that hold the pushrods down against the lifters. It is a little different than the later 216s and 235s.

I have the side cover off and can feel the lifters--will look to see if any springs--thanks

engine looks good inside--still not sure about the lifters though I have a hunch they just push out

Thanks for checking truckernix, Now I have anew thing to scratch my head over because I don't seem to have any of those pushrod springs. My manual does but the two engines I have--don't ---makes me think I threw them out--but i never remembered any either. Is this a case of extra parts left over--into the dumpster??

On my 207 in the '36 1 Ton, the pushrods are held in place with "hold down plates". After removing the bolts, the pushrods are lifted to reveal a "keeper" below the spring, and once removed the pushrod comes out thru the top of the head......I asume that you've discovered this...not sure about the lifters yet. It seems to me that my 207 had been left with open plug holes for at least a decade....So I'm looking for info/advice on installing a 216 or 261 in the mean time. (I'm a "one finger typer"--why are all the letters so mixed up on the key board?)

Thanks --yeah I have a couple of those brackets in a can but no springs--- and no keepers. I put a 235 in one of my '34s and it went okay--had to make a couple inches more room on the firewall engine side. But so far okay--not done yet th0ugh--fits fine on the radiator side
