I just spoke w/Mike Yoder @ Kansas Kustoms-Seems like a real nice guy. He splits stock cast iron manifolds into duals, keeping the intake fuel heater intact. My question is a follows:

In a '54 GMC with a chevy 235 (appx '55-'57) would I have better clearance running the second pipe behind or in front of the existing pipe? Mike can make the new manifolds either way. Also, would you guys run both pipes to the same side?, out the rear or beneath the running board?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

My Fenton puts the front pipe in front and it works fine in my 53' 3100. I then ran it to a 3" collector pipe and then into a 2 in/2 out muffler. My choice was to run both out the rear with SS tips for that classic look. Only problem was choosing the right muffler for the sound I wanted but got it right on the third try.

Moneypit, are you saying that your duals run together and then get split again?

Also, what was your evolution & final choice for the mufflers?

just make sure your pipes exit far enough back to not let fumes in the cab. doing as many exhaust systems as ive done, ive seen too many customers come to get pipes changed that were not put in a safe place, and were gasing the people out. and make sure the under side of the cab dosnt have a lot of holes in it.

If I had a Chevy engine in a GMC I don't believe I'd be shouting it to the world.
