Your best bet is to look for a used set. I've never heard of anyone reproducing these parts for a 1-ton.
Bed sides, the running boards and the curved panel that goes between are the primary differences in the body parts. The frame is longer on the 1-ton.
I don't know specifically on a '48, but by '54 the 1-ton had a completely open driveline. I'm pretty sure the '49 I took apart a while back was comletely open also, though I don't know that it was original.

Basically, other than body parts, there is nothing on mine that matches the 1/2 tons, but quite a bit of the brake, steering, and chassis parts are compatable with the 3/4 ton. The front axle, king pins, master cylinder and wheel cylinders match for sure. To follow up on OldSub's comments, my driveline is completely open. | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 | Dbone, If you could get good deminsions from someone, a local sheetmetal shop should be able to break new bedsides for you. The stake pockets, tailgate and headbaord piece should be the same as the smaller trucks and you can order them from any of the vendors. You may also be able to get the fab shop to make the curved piece as well. The running boards are a different story. I am assuming your truck was a flat bed when you got it and you want to change to the stepside bed. | | |
