I just wanted to ask the Stovebolt Pros what thay would use?
I just got through building my motor and I am not sure what to do about a intake/carb. I want to get the most out of the motor and I know a 4 barrel would parable be the best for high perf. But I like the look of the 2 one barrel and the 3 one barrels. Here is my engine 1960-235 .060 over 848 casting heads light pocket ported and polished,Fenton header, the crank is stock the cam is 260 avd.duration and .425 gross lift 106 lob seperation and the tranny is a Saginaw 4 speed ,411 rearend gears.
What intake/carb setup would you use?

I'm using an Offy dual single bbl intake with Holley Model 1904 carbs.
Hot Rod Lincoln (Jerry) suggests using carbs for the 216, and modifying the manifold for the smaller bolt pattern. For a street driven truck, this would really be the hot setup, as it will help eliminate many of the problems that multiple carburation brings with it (like the off idle dead spot).
Jerry and Jon (Carbking) are the best 2 to ask for advice, both are very knowlegable in this area.

No, mine have the regular metal bowls. They came off of a couple of International 1 1/2 ton trucks. I've been on the lookout for the glass bowls, though (seem to be more on fords and GMC), just 'cuz the look Kool!

Yes, it does. It's bit cold blooded, though. But once it get warmed up, runs like a champ.

Have you read this thread from a few weeks ago? I linked some pages from a 1953 HRM article. There is also this article from a 1955 HRM where Frank McGurk tested both twin and three one-barrels on a 261.

Does anyone have similar dyno tests for a four-barrel?

Here is my choice of an option. 2 Roach 2 barrels, second front) just dumps like the ends on a tripower. The dumper is progressivly linked to the rear as well. It runs on the (rear) 2 all day and have a lillte something when I downshift to 4th and pass. It is my version of the 4 barrel Holly 390 CFM but more old school with an emphisis on the More COOL!
Look at the link to fliker for a peak.

I am no expert but i have followed the ones around here pretty closely and am working on a 2G answer too. I can't help but think the gigantic manifold volume you have is going to make it miserable to gently accelerate. I'm curious what Jerry or Jon's take on your setup would be. Here's my 2 barrel answer so far:

DUDE! I am liking the looks of that! Sweet.
Why would it change the aceleration?
What are your thoughts here... have not thought about it much. I know the spacer will drop dsoem of the torque, correct?
I am building for the future as well and have a 260 sitting oin the corner for a build up - but not after I have her driving in town.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Again, like the 2 barrel adapter... maybe I can send you a manifold and the roach if this is in fact screwy. I could go this direction until the big boy id built.

Advanced Adaptors makes them but Speedway Motors is my choice for purchasing. I tried to go from Advanced Adaptor website for the parts but seems they may be to busy supplying large retailers instead. Waited a month for the setup and when got tired of waiting called and they still were not ready. Canceled, ordered from Speedway and had it three days later. Got two carbs from junkyard for 20 bucks, gathered my brass collection together and started building. It is runnning off the single carb right now, not tuned for the dumps. It's hard to get the seconds to kick in in the driveway ; ) You got to see the breathers, more the process of mocking up than the breathers thmselves I guess.
I have been playing with cans on top of the breathers for weeks and decided on pair of mixed nut cans from walmart for the mockup. Took 'em to FLAPS and said I want breather(s) this diameter and filters this size. They found them! Pickem up in an hour. Will try to post a picture or two this afternoon.

Curt- I like the looks of your manifold. How did you attach the adapter to the manifold? Do you have more pics?
