My cab smells like gas, and that's understandable because my grandfather recently busted the fuel line going from the filler hole to my gas tank. The "problem" is that my truck, when running, smells like a dadgum gas tank. I've gotten used to it but my friends at school however, have not. I always get complaints of the smell from them when i leave my truck on in the school parking lot in the morning so i can use my heater. Is there anything i can do about this, is there something wrong, or do all older engine fumes have that faint gas smell?

If it's a line thats broke... they're available..fix the line/connections.

You can tell its burnt and its exiting from the exhaust pipe. Not a gas leak, im wondering if that smell from my tailpipe is controlable . Like why do modern cars not smell at all and mine does. Mine does it to, when the wind is just right, its prety bad in the cab if your not used to it. Add some tail pipe to move the fumes as far back as you can. Check all the fittings on the tank, fuel pump, and carb, just to make sure there are no more leaks. Rebuilding the carb might help some a long with a really good tune up. I've written posts about "that" smell also. It's a unique smell..gets in your clothes too..Not sure why it's so different smelling..possibly beause the unburned gases etc are not being reburned thru the carb.
