I have a 1955 235 from a car that i have rebuilt. I want to put it in a 1962 chevy 1/2 ton truck that has been robbed of all of its mounting brackets . Is this marriage legal in my state, and what is the best way to make it work. thanks! Rick in dallas

Hy rick tool, I'm not positive, but I think that engine has all the correct bosses on it to mount into a 62 truck, you will need to aquire all the necessary brackets of course. As to the legality of the swap, you will have to check with your states D.M.V. or eqivalent. All of todays vehicles have a V.I.N., back in 62 the vehicle could have been registered using it's serial number, or its engine number, you will have to verify which way the 62 was registered. In my jurisdiction we are technically required to notify the Motor Vehicle Branch when we swap engines, although it is rarely actually done, hope that helps.

Thanks shop shark , I ordered some front mounting brackets on line but they don't look like anything I have seen around the junk yard . I wouldn't mind welding something up but the engine looks so nice I don't want the rest to look hinkey.
