There's a beat-up old header that leaks at the cylinder head, a rotted-out muffler, and front & rear pipes that have been cut and welded many times over. I'm thinking it's best to replace the entire system.
Anybody have experience with combinations of manifold & exhaust that are optimum for the 292? I can put it back with a stock (used) manifold and a budget-priced system from the local auto parts super-store. Walker is the only one I've found available so far. Any experiences or suggestions? | | |

If worked hard 292,s will eat up stock exhaust systems. Keep the back pressure down as much as possible.

And it does sound real nice when the 4bbl opens up. Next time, I'm going to do cast iron headers. They'll last longer and I think installation will be easier. Those long tubes were a great big pain in the arse to install! Go with a stock manifold or these: 292 cast iron -David | | |
