Great running old truck but the engine I know is not original and I can't find out what year it is or for that matter what exactly it is. The Serial number is F112L (Maybe FII2L) and the casting number is CON 4 A78. I've looked through several numbers references and I still can't find it. This number would be used for only a few years, so by knowing the casting number and date code you can ID the engine block. I don't believe any casting number ever lasted 10 years, they are always changing things which then makes them change the casting number. Hope this helps! The most important number is the casting number, should be below or near the fuel pump, usually hidden behind muck and oil. Also get the number off the head, will be another clue to what this motor is.

I miss read the one number (Should have been CON 4 A79 and after finding the casting number I was able to identify it.
It's a 1959 261ci!! The big one!
