my local parts folks are unable to find replacement u bolts for driveline.

i dont suppose anyone knows the napa # for them?

I think you have Spicer 1350 series U-joints, and if so the the Spicer U-bolt kit is 3-94-18X

That's a common part that fits hundreds if not thousands of different model vehicles, and it's recommended you replace them after each use, they should be readily available in good parts store.

According to Spicer:
DO NOT reuse bolts, straps, nuts, or damaged bearing retainers,
or use inferior grade bolts. Reuse of bolts, straps, nuts,
or damaged bearing retainers, or use of inferior grade bolts,
can cause driveline failure, which can result in separation of
the driveline from the vehicle. A separated driveline can result
in property damage, serious personal injury, or death.
If loosening or removing bolts, always install a new strap and
bolts and torque bolts to specification.

Might try another parts place, they are very common and meant to be replaced

i tried a couple places and their books are not very helpful. both napa and ati did not even have a listing for a 54 3600.

oops. i wrote u bolts in the origional post and i meant to write u joints. but the info you gave me still applies.

Yep, and if you're replacing the U-joints they recommend new U-bolts where used, like the pinion yoke on the rear axle.

It's best to buy U-joints by size and description, not by application.
Now if you go back to those same parts stores with some measurements and how the caps are retained, they'll have the parts you need on the shelf.

I'm guessing you have Spicer 1350 series joints.

Almost all of the GM 3/4-ton trucks old and new use the same U-joint, any parts man that knows his stuff can pick one off the shelf with no trouble at all.
This is just true only for the rear and center U-joint, the front one is a bit more difficult to find and you may have to put a “want ad” in a few forums to find one.

i guess auto parts men that know there stuff are in short supply in my neighborhood. i'll cast a wider net and see if i'm met with something other then a blank stare.

i recently purchace my bolt and the few times i've gone shopping for parts there have been problems. eventualy i'll find a store that is fammiliar with the older stuff.
