Question: Is the knob just above the ignition switch on the dash (below the choke knob) a manual throttle? The engine side of this cable is not connected to anything. It is just hanging around the back side of the carb...Is this because of the engine swap that I assume happened some long time ago?

Should be a 'T' for throttle on the knob in question.
Hand throttle plus the extra low first gear in the 4-speed works great for picking up hay bales from the field. One guy walks along side hoisting bales from the ground to the bed and another guy stacks on the bed.

The throttle cable is round capped in stainless steel with a "T" in the plastic maroon center. The choke cable will have a "C" instead of a "T". The original carb is a Carter YF. You might be able to rig the cable with original linkage adapted to a Rochester carb.
