I think the older ones without the non integrated head to manifolds are better. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 35 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 35 | it is a very good engine has more power then a 261-235. has better oiling. the nonintreagle heads are easier to work with. but the ones with the onepice headintake has possablies.
i have milled the intake off of one and made up header flanges and intake adapter to make a true 12 port head.
when rebuilding the 250 you can use 307 pistons buy 3 sets and get the fourth motor free. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 247 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 247 | I have a 250 in my 1967 C-10. It has been a very good little engine. I replaced a V8 with it, just because I hadn't had a 6 cyl for awhile. The truck is used just on short runs, and as a work truck before I retired. I would do it again. It was a good move for me. The head with the intregal manifold didn't come out till 1975. The only drawback is they are hard to tune with auto trans. &/or AC. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 36 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 36 | no problem im running a granny gear 4 speed no ac
