on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 137 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 137 | My vehicle is a 1963 Grumman Olson, 292 powered. Through some links here, I have been able to find out it is a 2 ton chassis using a VIN decoder page.
My question is, how do I identify my machine at parts counters so that their computerized catalogs will recognize it?
I have used the Suburban of the same year as ID for engine parts, but I doubt that will work brakes and such! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 400 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 400 | I would use the '63 2Ton. Should be able to ID off the rearend tag. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 137 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 137 | '63 2 ton doesnt pop up on their computers.
Perhaps an appropriate Chevy series number will. Does anyone know a common Chevy model that uses a 2 ton chassis with dual rear tires? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 65 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 65 | If I recall, in 63, Chevrolet didn't have a forward control chassis in the 19,500 Lb. GVWR. They were lighter than that, usually a P30 series. The VIN would have a 3 in the model designation. They also were sometimes identified as Dubl Duty in the parts catalogues. Let us see the VIN and we might be able to help.
