I know know bunches more about switching from generator (12 volt) to Alternator. Mostly from info here. Two question:
First I can't seem sto locate the 3 wire alternator. I've seen which alternator to ask for at the parts shop, but can't find it again.
Second, I can't get a response from MAD enterprises. Any Ideas?

Go to your FLAPS and ask for an alternator and plug for a 1979 C-10 V-8 pickup. Follow the many wireing diagrams found on this site (white wire on plug is your ignition, red on plug is jumped over to output lead like Oldsmobile did it ), Diode from Radio Shack in ignition line if needed.

There is a page on the MAD site that lists Delco alternator numbers, their 'clock' position and what vehicles they were used on. This is sometimes the best way to approach the counterman for positive results. I have linked that page for you.

First- - - - - -look for a counter man at the parts store who has at least half a head of gray hair. Ask him if he can read a printed catalog. If nobody in the store meets that description, RUN, do not walk, out the door! Today's wet-behind-the-ears computer terminal operators couldn't find an elephant in a shoebox, much less a part that doesn't jump off the computer screen at them!

Unless you live in a town with both city limit signs on the same post, there's probably a local electrical parts rebuilder somewhere nearby. Someone who can take a pile of parts and build an alternator, or (Gasp!) a generator, can get you set up with exactly what you need, the right way, the first time!
