It was somwewhat similar to the Chevy 194/230, but I don't think very many parts would interchange. The cam was belt-driven like a lot of the later OHC engines.

I have the 2brl version. The Sprint option got you the 4brl & better cam. I accumulated all the parts thinking I would put in a truck, but haven't yet. I can give you more info & pics if needed.

It was either a 230 (66-67') or a 250 cid (68-69') and Pontiac never built a 292 engine, that was Chevrolet only and it was an OHV not an OHC. | | |
