Hi all,

In 1952, how big of a difference was there between the two models. I understand that a 3100 is a 1/2 ton and 3600 is a 3/4 ton. Is that where the differences stop or is there cosmetic differences

Also if you could tell me if my STOVEBOLT is a 3100 or 3600 I would greatly appreciate it.

You've got a 3600. Cosmetically, the bed and frame are longer
than a 3100, with 3 stake pockets per side vs 2 for the 3100.
The 3600 (3/4 ton)has 8 lug hubs vs 6 lug for 3100 (1/2 ton). The 3600 is geared lower as well.

6 bolt wheels and a short bed = 3100
8 bolt wheels and a long bed = 3600

Yours looks like a 3600.

Major differences (besides above items): rear-end ratios, drive-shaft arrangement, frames, springs, brake parts, steering parts, hub caps, running boards, . . more?

Just ran the codes for you. It comes up as a '52 3600, built at Flint in October. The engine also comes up as a Flint engines, 3600/3800 application.

From the cab on forward the 3600 and the 3100 are basically the same. You'll have different spindles, bearings, and brakes, but basically everything is the same.

If you're planing on upgrading your rear with a late model pumpkin you need to know you frame rails are 11" more narrow than the 3100. That will make a real difference if you want to put a fuel cell in the back or a rear sway bar.
