The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Tool Chest Need help finding the correct Slide Hammer

I picked up an electrict stud welder (which works great) and when using the smaller 100 MM studs the hammer does seem to grip the stud with enough force and slips off the stud.

I stopped by a well know local body shop "Car-Craft" http://carcraftinc.net/Content/dupont_race_car.htm
and spoke with a freind who also uses stud guns. The type of hammer he uses has the head on the end that you twist to tighten on the studs. I've check eBay but non are listed. I've stopped by several FLAPS and cannot find the correct type I need. Do any of you folks hve a source.

He told me Snap-On Tools had them, but there are like $200 (which is crazy) I will assume that there is another source for these. Any ideas?

If your looking for something cheep try using a slide hammer that has the same threads as a vise grip, screw it on and adjust and hammer away.

That what I've been trying to find, we rigged up a vice grip welded to the end of the slide hammer rod and it work OK. I have a hard time poppo=ing for 82.00 for a slide hammer but that one is exactly what were looking for. Thanks

At least a lot less than Snapon. Sometimes, the best tools are the homemade tools!!
