I have found several kits that controll the lockup of the torque converter on our 700R4. The one I like best is from Monster Transmissons.

Does anyone have this or have something like this in ther truck? I HAVE to do SOMETHING soon. The body work is almost done, and I still have no way of controlling the transmission.
Also, If you have run across this kind of project before, could you please explain what you did to make your 700R4 work? What & Where did you order the parts from?

I have found a real good kit from Bowler Transmissions, But I can not afford to drop another $200.00 in a parts kit. I am beyond maxed out on this budjet as it is!
Does anybody know of a CHEAP way to get this thing going?

Just as a recap, I have bolted in a 250 Industrial 6 cyl. to this transmisson, and put it in the truck. At this moment, that is all that has been done. No driveshaft made yet. No electrics hooked up. No TV cable hooked up. Just bolted to the engine & dropped into the truck.

Your main problem is getting the tv cable hooked up correctly. You can run without lockup but the TV cable must be correct. If your trans. has plugs on the right side for pressure tests you can get the parts for the lockup from a salvage yard very reasonable. You need a vacuum switch from a late 80,s van or pickup. It has 2 green wires on the connector. Then get a pressure switch with 2 prongs like in the photo from Monster trans. It is common on electric chokes from late 70's to early 80's. It is right above the starter on 6 cyl. vehicles & behind the dist on v-8's. It is resonably priced new. Then get the connector that hooks to the trans. 4 prongs but only 2 used. Get the connector with the vacuum switch also. If you go that route & get the parts let me know & I'll go over the wireing with you.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Here is a site that has a diagram for a manual lock.
