this site is great- Its been hard to find info and parts for my truck- Looks like ill be spending some time here.

Heres what I got so far. THought about building a crew cab hauler for a shop truck but now Im just gonna keep it simple and put the GMC cab on a 04 duramax chassis.

By the way the green cab with the 78 chassis is for sale- Its got a 96 vortec 454 complete with harness, ecu- everything down to the fuel system and tank. Right now its got a th400, complete drive shaft out of the 96 as well as the rear end if you want it.

scotzilla,
Nice trucks, but you are suppose to put a link into your post to your photos, not the photos themselves. I am guessing this site would bog down in a hurry if everyone posted pictures. Thanks and Welcome to the site. computer_punch

sorry about the pics- ill do the link thing from now on-

Yea i though I would be further too- I moved my shop from livermore to antioch- And since then ive changed directions a few times with the truck. I always wanted a diesel but 2 years ago it was out of the budget - I almost pulled the trigger on a cummins motor home- then picked up a vortec and a gear vendor for the 400- then I found another vortec with an auto ecu so I bought a 4l80e- THe motors changed position a few times. ANyway it goes on and on- FInally I settled on a 04 1 ton i got a steal on. Between the new shop and the fact that it takes 3-4 guys to move it around so I can work on it on days off it slows the process.

Im trying to do as much homework on the duramax chassis so when it comes time to mount the cab I know how far it needs to be body dropped and make things go as smooth as possible.

Anyone here ever make a crew cab out of one of these?
