Started looking at the diff though and it looks like I have to take it completely apart to get to the axle seal. Can I get to the axle though the rear cover without disturbing the pinion adjustment or completely pulling the thing apart? Thanks this is my first experience with an old truck that isn't a Model A.

You can remove the rear cover on the diff. and remove the "C" clips on the axels and just pull them out. It won't affect your pinion adjustment. Best get yourself a service manual, it will give you a step by step. George
