I wanted to install a later model clutch so I got a 1938 bell housing , flywheel and clutch. The problem is that the bell housing mounting holes are located on the side at the back end of the housing, With this configuration the frame cross member is 6 inches to far forward.
There are also a set of holes on the engine side of the housing. These holes do line up with the frame but I don't know if they were used for engine mounting or some other brackets. Thanks for looking in. I have dropped the engine in with the new bell housing and although the holes line up, the bottom of the bell housing hits the cross member and it needs to drop down in order to line up the drive shaft. So, I removed the cross member and now I need to buy or redo the cross member that I have and try to align the drive shaft with the transmission. I really don't know what I am doing here. Could use some help | | |
