It would need to be cut out & a patch welded in or get another fender. I would try to patch it, then you have a small area to re-paint. If you replace the fender you will have to paint the fender and blend the paint into the adjacent panels to get a color match.
OR, you could grind the rust out and fill it with body filler. That should hold it for about 6 months.

Then get some spray undercoating and cover the glass patch.
This should hold you for quite some time, but don't be surprised if you don't find something similar somewhere else. Unless this part was defective allowing the rust there's a good chance it's endemic to the vehicle and more rust will show up down the line. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 | the body shop is talking about $600.00 to repair. the fender area is enclosed and hard to get to. the fender is part of the whole rear structure. the other side was t-boned and replaced 2 years ago. thanks for the responses. i guess i will have to bite the bullet, i keep a car along time, 20 years on the last one. ron
