| | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 128 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 128 | I have a 1946 1 ton with a 216 c.i. engine and I'm in the middle of a frame off restoration. This is my first restore, so I am learning/ making mistakes as I go along. I am now at the point of assembling the engine, and I made the mistake of not marking the camshaft/crankshaft teeth where they meet. The factory camshaft timing mark is obvious (stamped circle in the tooth valley), but the crankshaft timing mark isn't so obvious. I can't find anything and I'm loosing sleep over this. There is a faint line on one of the crankshaft teeth and a few indents on another tooth, but nothing that looks like a stamped circle. Am I missing something? I could time out the two gears using the #1/ #6 method, but I'd like to avoid that if possible. Has anyone had this problem? HELP!!! Thanks.

There are two dimples on one of the teeth, but is it a dimple I'm looking for or a stamped circle like the cam gear has?
