Its from an 85 s-10 4x2 2.8L
From what I've read on the swap it should work great on my 55 2nd series with 235 & orig 3 speed.
What do you all think

Well, I guess when we are done restoring we will probably do the same thing. We have two chassis, two cabs more doors than we know what to do with etc... when we purchased the truck it was 1 complete less bed, one complete less engine & tranny and extra doors, fenders, grills, hoods all thrown in. The guy basically had a yunk yard(gold mine) behind his house and was moving. He tried to get us to take anything and everything chevy

| | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 130 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 130 | hello chevygirl. i installed a t5 in my 55 first series and i followed all of the tips and tricks posted on this forum to do it. my t5 was also from a late 80s blazer, a chevy astro van clutch disc, and an astro van drive shaft. the truck is not finished yet , but i was able to at least drive it down the street and get it up to 3rd gear. what a blast that was!i am using the stock 3.90 rear gears for now, but i get the idea from reading some of the posts here that even with overdrive on the t5 that it might still be geared too low. we will find out soon though, because as soon as the temperate warms up outside, i will be back at it. you might find that the shifter has a long throw but the location of it will look pretty good[i mean the position on the floor]. the long throw can be fixed by using a kit that hurst makes to shorten the throw, or you can search on this forum to find a post about a home made remedy. also ,it is great to see yet another person from our area on the forum. i would be interested if you have a cab available as i am looking for one to be used on our next project. you can e-mail me if you wish. good luck.

If you want to identify the donor car/truck of a certain T-5, you can do so by going to www.4speeds.com, clicking on "T-5" and then entering the tag number in the box at the bottom of the page. To remedy that you can start out in 2nd. With the .76 overdrive and 3.90 you'll be spinning 2158 rpms @ 65 mph. That's a nice cruising rpm.
