Just a refresher. I tried to do a ringjob on my 250. All went well except for the fact that it was already bored to .060" (which i wasn't aware of at the time)and i threw standard rings on it. So, my grandpa, thinking i was a parapalegic, took the truck with him to Statesboro, GA, and got it fixed himself. Just got him back friday. Motor has been bored to .080" (needless to say the last bore job it'll ever see). Now that we have the depressing, expensive fixes out of the way, we get to the fun stuff. Block has been completely repainted Chevrolet orange, it actually has a big metallic breather cap now, brand new spark plugs AND spark plug wires, re-adjusted windshield wipers (i thought they were fine in the first place, but Grandpa said they werent right!), patched up radiator, and 3 point seat belts.
And when he brought it back, he showed me one of the old piston heads, and pointed out the numbers 060 that was stamped on it. Sadly, you almost need a scanning electron microscope to see it, but the deed has been done!
I want to thank all of you for your help, including you Hotrod (i plastigauged it before i put it back together although grandpa said a grain of sand must have got in there or something cause the crank was %$#@&$%), and although my rebuild was a complete failure, that won't stop me from doing it again!
But for now, i have one question. Gramps said he "fixed" the antennae, because apparently it wasn't extended all the way. When i looked, i noticed that it's now over 4 feet tall. Can anyone explain to me why my trucks stock antennae is as big as some CB whips?
