HELP ME STOP!!!

I am trying to get my e-brake back in working order... here is the story:

I have a 65 C-10 longbed stepside. My concern is how the rear cable attaches to the suspension trailing arm. My truck uses a simple clamp to hold the cable's metal end-collar (for lack of a better name) to the trailing arm. I have seen later models, such as the '66, that have a sort of bracket that seems to be welded to the frame that the end-collar fits into. Inline Tube sells a supposed OEM cable for the '65, but it is set up like the '66 I described above.

Chevy Duty sells a cable that has a metal band that would work on mine, but I have my doubts, because a few years back I tried parts from NAPA and they did not work. The diameter of the metal band was too small, and my clamp, which appears to be
stock, would not hold the cable in place when the emergency brake lever was pulled.

What was the factory setup? Can I get the bracket to make the "OEM" Inline Tube part work? Their part looks far superior to the Chevy Duty or the NAPA.

I just saw in the factory assembly manual that the 1960 had a bracket set-up...does this apply to the following years, too? Also, it seems the 63 shop manual shows brackets and not clamps. 65 supplement does not have any updates.

why does my 65 have clamps and not brackets?

any ideas?

my 64 had a pivot bracket that mounted on the auto trans crossmember.
