It currently has a carter fuel filter with a fairly deep glass bowl that hangs down too low to mount the original horn on the bracket attatched to the intake manifold. Does anyone know if perhaps the original fuel filter was something other than the Carter? Something with a shallower bowl?

I think the extra Carter filter was a factory option. If the filter is mounted perfectly vertical, then it interferes with the horn. On my truck the filter was always cocked slightly to make everything fit. The fuel filter is on the fuel pump (glass sediment type) the option was one mounted at the carb
