I have a shortbed stepside. I am going to use por-15 on the boards followed by black paint as done on the Mar-k site. My question is how much por-15 is required to complete this task? That stuff is very expensive and I dont want to buy more than what I need.

I did the exact same thing as you want to 2 quarts will be more than enough to give them 3 coats as Mar-K says. You can the finish pictures here.
