It's all looking a bit like wax in there right now. Many Thanks Tim (UK) | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | Well, Tim, since you live in the UK, you might have an easier time of finding Penrite Steering Box Lube than we have trying to find it. Cornhead Grease is supposed to be similar. Tim | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 829 | Some people have used STP oil treatment. It's a little thicker than axle grease, but thinner than wheel bearing grease. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 53 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 53 | Thanks guys for your replies. I think i know what i need to get now. We have something similar here that they use to put in the front swivel hubs of Landrovers. It's also thinner than grease but slghtly thicker than gear oil. For the record my '52 came to the UK from Minnesota in August last year. I took it out in the road fully legal last week for the first time. Real exciting stuff. It's my daily driver, and every time i park up in town i always return to 3 or 4 people standing around looking at it. Because it is my daily driver, i have had to put a deisel engine in it and 5 speed gearbox because gasoline is $7.05 gallon here. The deisel is same price but its returning me 32 miles to the gallon. So you can see my reasoning here. If i can find your e-mail addresses i will send a photo in a moment.
