Hey guys, I'm going to swap out my stock '75 454 that came in my '57 suburban 4x4. I'm going to put in a friend of mine built crate 350 that he no longer needs. My 454 has issues and I feel that I would be much farther ahead to swap out than put the time and money into the motor that I have no history of and looks to have been somewhat mis-cared for in the past. The 350 has approximately 10k miles on it and has been in dry storage for about 6 yrs. What I need to know is, will I need to swap out the motor mounts? I was told by my buddy that they make adapter motor mounts that go from a sbc to a bbc and vise versa, is this true? Where would I find these? Has anyone done this? any other things I need to know or plan for?Any advice would help. Thanks, Bongo

Hey Bongo, that is probably a good idea you have. The small block Chevy engines are very popular for a number of reasons. Mainly because they can be bought cheap, are easy to work on,and parts are readily available for them. As for motor mounts,I am very fortunate to live close to the main Summit racing store, about 80 miles from me, and a very good hot rod shop closer than that.Just about any conversion is possible with todays engines. When I installed a 350 in my 55 I bought a motor mount setup from Brothers and it fit right in.Pick up a performance truck mag.and look thru it,then order catalogs from the various aftermarket suppliers.I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

Hy Bongo, it depends where your 454 was mounted, on the side, or off of the front. If someone had made mounts to mount it off the side of the engine, then they should work for the 350 as well. If the 454 was mounted off of the front, then you will have to make up some kind of mount for the 350, big blocks are longer than small blocks, hope that helps.
