I put it all together with new T/O bearing installed. I'm now trying the adjust the clutch pedal free play, I don't have enough outward ajustment on the adjusting rod.(too much free play) What am I missing? Did you compare your new parts with your old part before you installed them.
The new clutch/pressure plate install is usually pretty straightforward, but I have seen posts here with tales of long and short throwout bearings and varying types of clutch release springs that don't mix and match with those throwout bearings.
I have changed a bunch of these and everything worked well..are you certain you are adjusting the rod properly and that your fork and throwout bearing are where they belong.

| | | | | Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 461 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 461 | It is possible to install the disc backwards (front-to-rear), in which case you won't have enough adjustment, and the clutch will not release properly. The disc should be marked with the flywheel side. If the disc is not marked, I believe the offset on the center hub goes into the pressure plate. The other possibilities mentioned by others also exist, but my first thought is that the disc is backward. Regardless, I think you still have to disassemble everything to find the cause of your trouble.
Harvester | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | The disc is the same thickness anyway You put it in , but it will only go in one way , check Your throw out bearing if it is the short and You will need the long type , it all depends on the total hgt. of the old clutch and the new one.Take old setup and set it on workbench measure hgt. with throwout bearing do the same to new one than You will know what size bearing to install to keep hgt. the same or close. Some new clutchs are shorter in hgt. I hope this helps ,Pete | | |
