Has anyone ever purchased or seen aftermarket fender emblems and hood emblems for a 55 2nd? If so what kind of quality were they? It's an awful lot of money if they don't look original.

Truck Shop has them in their catalog. From what I have seen they seem to be good quality. Brothers and everybody else has them also. They most likely all get them from the same source. You are right, they are expensive.

i bought a hood emblem for my 57 from classic parts.
http://www.classicparts.com/default.asp

good quality, but had to run a tap into the mounting screw holes to clean up the threads from the chrome plating.

also, my truck dont see the sun light very much, only on some weekends, since it is under cover all through the week, but the orange paint on the meblem is already fading.
i would bet that most places are getting their stuff from the same manufacturer.
hope this helps.

I bought the aftermarket fender emblems for my 55.2 Napco Suburban and they are flawless. They are actual GM approved parts and look identical to the originals; they even have the part numbers on the back. It won't be long before you see someone selling them on e-bay as NOS.

They are expensive, but a lot cheaper than rechroming the originals and painting the inset with the right color paint.

Take care, George

I found my side emblems for the 551st at Jim Carters, they also are very nice. I didn't realize until Napco Man mentioned it but mine have the part numbers on as well.

Thanks for all your input, my truck is complete and all original but it looks kindof naked without emblems. I guess i'll have to dig deep & write the check! Thanks again, bumperbob
