You may recall some time back I was fretting over my Wisconsin welder not starting and you suggested changing the plugs. Being the 'miser' that I am I figured I could just clean those plugs up good (they didn't look to bad to begin with) and that would fix it. NOPE!! Nothing worked!!

Finally 'reasoning' set in and I told Cindy that I hadn't seen you advise anyone wrong yet and I have known you for a couple of years at least. Yupper, I went to the parts house and ordered up four new plugs. Got home, installed them and, and, and hit the starter and the darn thing fired right up.

Gentlemen, if you have any engine question my advise is to follow Hotrod's advise. My automotive knowledge pales in comparison to Hotrod's. He has all his sh*t together and he sure won't be tripping over it in the dark.

One of these days I would love to sit in the corner of Hotrod's shop just to watch, listen and ask dumb questions every now and then.

Gentlemen, thanks for the vote of confidence! I really do pull some mechanical boners at times, but I've been priveleged to learn from some of the best in the business, over the past 50 years or so. I grew up around my father's general auto shop in the early 50's, and even now, at age 80, he's one of the most knowledgeable mechanics I've ever met. After 17 years of running his own shop, he sold out to his partner, and went into the automotive education business, first at Nashville Auto-Diesel College, and later he opened the shop where I'm currently teaching, McGavock High School. He ran that shop from 1971 to 1987, and I took over in 1991. My son was just hired to teach at another public high school shop in Nashville, so maybe, when I'm ready to retire in a few years, I can pass my shop on to a third generation.

I'm happy to share whatever knowledge I've managed to pick up over the years, because if I don't, the wisdom of the generations of mechanics who came before me won't get passed on. Thanks again!

There are some threaded answers that I read that DON"T make sense, maybe the thread got too long, or the sender doesn't quite grasp what was the main question,

The ''HOTROD's'' answers are usually right on the mark.

Back in 73' I hired a young man fresh out of Nashville Auto-Diesel College. We didn't do a lot of engine work at the time but I needed a "wrench" and he needed a job. To make a long story short a few years later he became my shop foreman and had a real knack for the business. After I sold out he went on to become very successful in his own shop.

I wonder if Hotrod's father might have been one of his instructors? It's a small world afterall.
