I have a 62 c-10. My original speedo went kaput. I ordered areplacement and I think they gave me one from a 63. Anywho the new one reads 10m.p.h. slower than the original. Why is this??? Ihave access to another one from a 62 from a guy not far from me, but it is in a big truck and im afraid ill just have the same problem. Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

Did you ever get anywhere on the calibration that was recommended in November?

You might consider this thread. It talks about how to figure out the proper gear and geat change-out.

I'm betting you need to swap out gears to get the accuracy you're looking for.

Match the odometer reading with the mile markers on the freeway. Get the odometer right by changeing the gears in the trans. or with a ratio adapter. Then if the speed does not seem correct the problem is in the head.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
