For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 136 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 136 | I finally found an original hood bird to put on the Suburban. Now that the body work is almost complete and ready for paint, can anyone give me measurements from reference points (i.e. from the back lip of the hood) to the front? I assume the bird is centered. Thanks in advance for any assistance. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 Sir Searchalot | | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 | Find some in the Gallery and PM them.

Thanks for the suggestion. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 136 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 136 | Pee Wee came through with the measurements, and I think I'm ready to drill into the hood. We can close this topic. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 Sir Searchalot | | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 | Of course you know you will use the dimensions he gave for foreward but it must be centered side to side. just like to mention everything before you drill. Nice truck by the way.

My '58 is in it's 5th guide coat of primer and ready for paint next week. I have all the parts, all new glass and rubber, except for the rear clamshell window,
I wish I remembered how to put it all back together, but with all the great help here on the forum, I'll git 'er done!
The "before" pics are in the gallery, '58 Suburban, under my name, Mark Reizen. If you come back to Michigan, you're invited to Howell for a tour and refreshments.

Looks like your GMC is going to look great once it's complete again! I'm curious what did you do with the original 6-cyl 270 or 8-cyl Pontiac 336? If its laying around taking up room, I can help you get rid of it. I'm looking for the air breather caps and oil bath cleaner for the 8-cyl.
Well cool I can't wait to see your burb after the paint!! When I get back to Michigan (maybe this summer) I'll have to come check it out!! I think Howell is close by Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor or Belleville?? I've always wanted to do a road trip from California to Michigan and back but none of my friends are dumb enough to go with me haha!

I have the original 6 cyl-270,but want to keep it, as I do all the original parts, just in case the next caretaker wants to restore it to original. The only real substantive modification is the 454, boxed frame, 700R4 trans, and the exhaust system. The invitation to visit remains open to you or any Stovebolter who ventures this way.

I was just talking to my uncle last night from Ypsi-Tucky and we were kicking around several dates of when I should come out there. We're going to have a family reunion so whenever that date is I'll for sure bring my camera and snap some pics of your 58 GMC burb!

I have a few summer plans (St. Ignace show- end of June: Dream Cruise, 3rd week in August: Traverse City, first week in August) but I'm sure we can hook up. I look forward to it.
