will I be able to install engine with tranny mounted(shifter removed) and get past cross members,or do I have to lift cab.

Do you have the radiator/rad-housing off?
Do you have a good hoist with a load-leveler?
Do you have a good friend who will assist you?
Can you be slow and patient?
Yes, it is pretty tight, especially at the firewall.
If you answer "yes" to all, you can do it. Otherwise, it is possible as your describe, but much easier with the transmission off (I did it both ways about two months ago). There are pros & cons to both techniques.

I'm going to give it a try when engine gets back. If I have to lift cab I will. Then put everything back together (again).

Or will be off when i install engine, I'm still in the fit stage with hood,cowls and fenders (and e brake).
I figured out that if I align the hood with the cab ,then use the Radiator mount with the hood latch sht metal attached i can get the inner fender wells then the fenders pretty close.
so everything has been on and off a lot before I feel comfortable with attaching permanetly.
In the mean time ,I hope to have engine in and all assembled which should be easier without fenders. | | |
