Hi guys. I'm having quite a time here with my '64 c-10. I pulled a Chevy V-8 out of it and am in the process of dropping in a newer 350 block with one piece rear main seal. For the life of me; I can't fit the rubber engine mounts down inside of the steel mounting brackets bolted to frame. It gets oh so close and won't drop in any farther. Could anyone supply me with pics of your engine mounting area or supply me with proper year/model of motor mounts to be used? I believe the metal brackets bolted to the frame and cross member are stock. I'm thinking that the rubber mounts are incorrect and too thick. Thanks for any help!
Eric

I will try to post some pictures of my 66' C-10 with a 350. I will try to see if there are any numbers on the mounts but I honestly don't know much about them.

Thank you Dellman. Anything will help. Stupid me threw out the original V-8 mounts off the old 350. I have nothing to compare to.

That is a common problem when putting an engine in one of those models. I always wack the holes in the brackets about twice there normal size while the engine is out. Then put a large thick washer on the bolt. You can loosen the brackets on the engine till you get the bolts started then tighten them back up.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

you will see variations of the mounts as well for all my sixes. i have got two mounts at once one had one size mounting threads the other had a smaller one. some have been slightly thicker than the other one. some of the big truck 292's had a thicker mount that was square. i only remove 8's never put them back in. hahaha. you have lifted the block and bolted mount to it and the whole thing won't lower down right? can you start one side and pry on it while letting block down? it may just want to be a pain no matter what. you might try to wait till it's very cold and uncomfortable that's when i always have to always pull/ install a engine.

Thanks for the great replies. I have found variances in the motor mounts purchased at Checker Auto Parts. Mainly the bolt holes are different diameters. It certainly doesn't help. I'm not sure if this was an original V-8 truck but the metal brackets appear to bolt up to the stock holes in crossmember and frame. There are no new holes anywhere. Do the six cylinder brackets fit V-8's as well? In brackets; I mean the bent metal brackets that block and motor mounts sit down in to. Thanks!
