I'll likely be getting a free 84 pickup donor here pretty soon and will be doing the swap with mc/booster and wanted to have my ducks in a row..

I don't see why you should have to have a new crossmember when you change mc/booster. But... The main thing about changing the cross member is the alignment of the driveline. The output shaft of the tranny has to be parallel to the pinion shaft within a few degrees. There's a good article about it at http://www.classictruckshop.com/driveline.asp . | | |

If you are talking about the front crossmember for an IFS kit then its alignment to the frame is critical or the truck with drive sideways. Your IFS kit or crossmember should have come with instructions. If not then contact the supplier to obtain them.
If this is for your 66 I would have to ask why you are changing the cross member as you can just replace the spindles. | | |

I have a 66 pickup.
I'm getting a 84 parts truck.
I want to swap the whole front crossmember in so i can have better brakes.
I know you have to drill some holes in either the crossmemeber or the frame to do the conversion.
Do any of the existing holes line up already?
