I have a 1952 Chevy 3100 and have to install the door hold open springs. I got two pairs from a parts dealer. But... how do I have to install them ? Has someone a photo where I could see it ? I have no idea how this should work.
Thanks for your help

yes, this is exactly what I mean. Seems not to be very easy to get the spring into the latch...
Thank you !

Those are menioned in the tech tip. You will have to take the hinges out and while out you may want to change the pins if there is any wobble/wear. Those little boogers are sort of tricky but if you'll read the tip and them play with them a little you will see how they go and it will be a little easier. | | | | Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 24 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 24 | Hi Alvin,
thanks for the tip. But I didn't find the tech tip regarding hinges.
But I found out, that the easiest way is to remove the bolt at the hinge and then it is easy to get the springs in. But it is not so easy to install the hinges with the springs back to its place. Because the base of the hinges are now a bit wider.
By the way, the parts you sent me arrived, thanks for you help and : Happy new year !
Regards

Maybe this is what Alvin is referring to? | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | tclederman: your absolutely right. After I told Tom it was a tech tip I went to look so I could put it here but didn't find it. I just thought I was sleepy!! I printed out all MartinSr. instructions with the pictures and they help me along. Mine are already back on the panel but the doors are not aligned yet. Thanks for keeping me Straight!
Tom, thanks and hope 2009 will be agood one for all of us. | | |
