Where can I buy a rebuild manual for my MY6 transmission? I searched the Stovebolt archives, ebay, and Google without any luck. Is there any reason to think that the innards of my MY6 are any different than a Mopar A833? I know there are many A833s, especially non-ODs, and the tailshafts and bell-housing bolt patterns vary from GM to Mopar, but are the main case components the same ? Thanks in advance.

Its covered in the appropriate '81 to '86 Chevy pick-up/van manuals.

Update - I just went out & found a book I have that covers the rebuild of it. It's a '82 Chevy 10 to 30 series Lt. Duty truck Service Manual. It's referred to as a 89mm. 4-speed there.

Doug--thanks for the literature search. Is the book a Chevy publication, or an aftermarket book like Motors Manual?

Russell, That is a genuine G.M. Service Manual, like the dealers were issued. A note of caution, in some years component overhaul was covered only in the book titled 'Unit Repair Manual', in others such as this,that info was in the 'Service Manual'. IMO, the factory manuals are the ONLY ones to buy. Anything else has been condensed.
